Perceptual landscapes
There is a lot of emptiness in my mountains The old Chinese landscape painters knew this: emptiness is where the viewer's breath enters the painting. Sometimes I use multiple panels. A single landscape divided. This discourages the viewer from grasping it as an object. You cannot possess it in one glance. You must let go. The mountain refuses to be an object. It remains an experience. Not recognition. Relation.
